Being one of the most popular festivals celebrated with grand joyous, Doongri Fair in Kullu is celebrated in the month of May at the 'Valley of Gods'- Kullu. The famous Doongri Fair like all the other fairs detained at Himachal is yet another colorful affair to keep one enticed and spell bound. The famous fair is also known as Hadimba Devi Fair held near the Hadimba Temple which is just 1.5 kms from Manali bus stand. The grand fair is celebrated to mark the advent of spring – the most pleasant of all seasons.
The festival marks the onset of the spring season, when the entire region is at its best. This fair attracts numerous tourists and locales, owing to the colorful environs of blossoming flowers, new leaves and lush greenery. Moreover, little and colorful kites also cover up the horizon to mark the spring festival, termed as “Basant Panchami.”
Simultaneously, another fair is also held at UNA Almost around the same time, another fair is held at Una in the memory of a renowned sage named Baba Barbhag Singh. It is believed that the benevolent sage possessed magical powers and used then for eleemosynary ends.
