Pinjore is a town located in the Panchkula district of Haryana and is very popular for its Mughal Gardens and HMT (Hindustan Machine Tools) factory. Located 22 kms from Chandigarh, a city known for its excellent educational, cultural and recreational activities, Pinjore is known as one of the best places to live in India. From a religious point of view, Pinjore is believed to be the place where the Pandav brothers stayed during their exile- and because of their presence the area was once known as Panchpura. Even today Pinjore wears traces of its history with pride. Located 1800 feet above sea level and nested in a valley overlooking the Shivalik mountain range, Pinjore is a pollution free town which provides for spiritual and physical wellbeing.
To promote tourism in Pinjore, the Haryana government has introduced the Pinjore festival since 2006 at the famous Pinjore Mughal Gardens to celebrate the history of the century old Pinjore town and its surrounding gardens. Cultural evenings are hosted in which artists from various fields entertain the people attending. The cultural evening also includes a food bazaar which includes various kinds of cuisine.
